A smoke detector is an automatic fire-detection device designed to sense the presence of smoke in an area and provide an early warning of fire by activating an audible alarm and/or sending a signal to a fire alarm control panel. Early detection helps reduce loss of life and property by enabling quick evacuation and fire response.

A fire smoke detector is typically a small, round or square device installed on ceilings or high on walls. Its main purpose is to continuously monitor the air for smoke particles and trigger an alarm when smoke is detected.

⚙️ How It Works

There are two common types:

• Ionization Smoke Detectors
  These detect small smoke particles from fast-flaming fires. They use a tiny amount of radioactive material to sense changes in the air.
• Photoelectric Smoke Detectors
  These are better at detecting larger smoke particles from slow, smoldering fires. They use a light beam and sensor; when smoke enters, it scatters the light and triggers the alarm.
